Mission
The mission of the Discovery Institute is to provide educators with specific training to implement the Discovery Program in their schools so students have the opportunity to learn the social-emotional skills necessary to be responsible and effective in school, home, and work environments, and within the larger community.
For nearly three decades, the Discovery Program has been implemented in over 20 states — reaching hundreds of schools and thousands of students.
History
Following numerous requests from educators across the country for Discovery Program training, the Discovery Institute was established in 1996 to coordinate the training of teachers, counselors, and administrators in the methods and strategies of the Discovery Program.
To satisfy training requests, the Discovery Institute developed two training options:
- An on-site / in-district four-day training.
- An intensive four-day summer session in Fort Collins, Colorado.
By providing these training opportunities, educators can teach the Discovery Program and related skills to a wide-reaching audience of adolescents. The impact of this training is paramount to the vision of the Discovery Institute.
